Government Tenders
Public sector procurement, eTenders, and official vendor portals.
Last reviewed: May 2026
Government procurement opportunities are mainly published through National Treasury's eTender Publication Portal. Due to historic technical difficulties with the Government Tender Bulletin, the eTender portal and departmental websites are the primary reliable sources for bidding on state contracts.
Primary Tender Portals
The main centralized databases for discovering open, awarded, and closed tenders.
eTender Portal
Main portal for all public sector tenders.
The eTender Publication Portal (etenders.gov.za) lists all currently advertised, awarded, cancelled, and closed tenders. You can filter by category, province, and organ of state. It serves as the single point of access.
DPSA Tenders
Tenders specific to Public Service & Administration.
Lists open, awarded, closed, and cancelled tenders for the DPSA. Provides details such as the tender description, status, closing date, and awarded supplier amounts.
GCIS Tenders
Government Communication and Information System bids.
Lists current bids advertised by the GCIS, such as digitisation services or software training, complete with briefing session dates and downloadable tender documents.
Western Cape
Provincial jobs, bursaries, tenders and eRecruitment.
Western Cape Treasury publishes provincial tenders; the provincial jobs, bursaries and tenders page explains how to apply online and links to the tender platform for open and awarded tenders. Municipalities may use separate official sites.
Gauteng TendaSwift
Gauteng automated tender system.
GPG’s automated system supports fairness and auditability. Large tenders (generally R1 million+) are also reflected on the Government Tender Bulletin, National Treasury’s eTender portal and the GPG site — confirm scope on each official source.
Other provincial hubs
Entry points for other provinces’ public service and tender information.
Each province maintains legitimate .gov.za portals for recruitment and procurement (e.g. KZN, Eastern Cape, Mpumalanga, Limpopo, Free State, North West, Northern Cape). Cross-check any listing on the organ of state’s own site; ignore unsolicited “winner” fees.

Understanding the Tender Bulletin
Important context regarding how tenders are legally published in South Africa.
The Government Tender Bulletin
Historically, all tender advertisements were compiled in the Government Tender Bulletin, published by the Government Printing Works.
Technical Difficulties
Since early 2021, the Printing Works experienced severe technical difficulties. As a result, accounting officers were instructed to use the eTender portal instead.
Departmental Sites
Always verify the eTender portal listings by cross-referencing the specific department's own website (e.g. DPSA or GCIS), as they are mandated to publish their bids locally during downtimes.
Official Sources
Verified portals for final submission and validation.
