SAPS Trainee

Police Service basic training intake. High volume.

Competition for these roles is extremely high. Ensure your Z83 form is pristine and your CV highlights specific physical fitness and clean criminal records. Background checks (SAPS clearance) are mandatory.

Level 1

Qualified

Educators

Teaching positions in public schools (DBE).

Positions are usually governed by the provincial Departments of Education. You must be registered with SACE (South African Council for Educators) before applying.

Entry

Admin Clerk

General administrative and data capture roles.

These entry-level roles require basic computer literacy, matric, and high attention to detail. Excellent stepping stones into the public sector career ladder.

Nursing

Professional nurses and healthcare workers.

Community service and clinical hours must be completed. Vacancies are generally coordinated through the Department of Health and local clinics.

Trainee

Traffic Officer

Provincial traffic management intakes.

Often requires a valid Code B driver's license and passing rigorous physical and psychological evaluations during the recruitment phase.

Level 7+

Mid-level

Finance / HR

Specialized departmental management roles.

Requires formal tertiary qualifications and experience with government systems like PERSAL or LOGIS. These roles focus heavily on compliance and public fund management.

Mastering the New Z83 Form

The Z83 form was updated recently. Using the old version will result in automatic disqualification.

Ensure you are using the latest Z83 form (effective from Jan 2021). It is editable in PDF format.

Complete Accurately

Do not write 'refer to CV'. Fill in all fields entirely. Initial every page and sign the final page. This is a legal requirement.

Attach Only What's Required

As per new rules, you no longer need to attach certified copies of qualifications on initial application—only a detailed CV. Certified copies are only required if shortlisted.

Reference Number

Double check the Reference Number from the circular and ensure it is correct on the form and the envelope.
